IN DEPTH

Each Benefit, Explained

Watchmaking Expertise Built Over Years

Our lead watchmaker has been working with movements since the early 2000s, with hands-on experience across Malaysian and European independent workshops. That background matters when a piece presents unusual wear or an uncommon calibre — it means we know what we are looking at before we open the case.

  • 15+ years of movement service and restoration
  • Familiar with quartz, automatic, and hand-wound calibres
  • Vintage pocket watch experience included

WHY THIS MATTERS

A watchmaker who has seen a broad range of movements and fault types is more likely to diagnose correctly on the first assessment. That saves time and avoids the cost of revisiting a job that was not understood fully on the first pass.

WHY THIS MATTERS

An ultrasonic cleaner removes contaminants that manual cleaning misses, particularly in the jewels and pivot holes that affect rate accuracy. A timing machine removes guesswork from regulation — the figures show exactly how the movement is performing across multiple positions.

Workshop Tools That Do the Job Properly

We use an ultrasonic cleaning system for movement parts, a timing machine for rate regulation, and a case pressure tester for water resistance. These are not optional extras — they are part of how a mechanical service should be carried out.

  • Ultrasonic cleaning for movement components
  • Multi-position timing machine accuracy testing
  • Case pressure testing where applicable

A Workshop That Talks to You Plainly

We tell you what we find, what it means, and what the options are — in plain language. If a piece needs more than you expected, we call before proceeding. If something is not worth repairing relative to its value, we say so. That kind of candour is worth something.

  • Clear explanation of findings on collection
  • No work beyond quote without your go-ahead
  • Honest assessment even when the answer is not what you hoped

WHY THIS MATTERS

Many people bring in a watch without knowing much about its condition. What they need is someone who will explain what they found, not just hand back a receipt. We aim to leave every client with a clearer understanding of their timepiece than they had when they arrived.

WHY THIS MATTERS

Watch servicing done correctly the first time costs less over the life of the piece than repeated partial fixes or work that needs to be redone. Our pricing reflects the actual scope of the work — not a promotional figure padded later with extras.

Transparent Pricing, No Additions After the Fact

Every service has a published starting price. What is discussed when you drop the watch off is what you pay — unless something additional is discovered and you authorise it. There are no handling fees, no administration charges, no surprises on the invoice.

  • Published starting prices for all three services
  • Additional charges require client approval
  • No hidden administrative or handling fees

Work That Holds Up Over Time

A mechanical service done properly means correct lubricants in the right quantities, mainspring tension assessed carefully, and accuracy verified before the piece leaves the bench. Many clients return for subsequent service intervals having found that the work from the previous visit held up well through years of daily wear.

  • Correct lubricants for each movement type
  • Post-service settling period noted
  • Accuracy figures documented for comparison at next service

WHY THIS MATTERS

The purpose of a mechanical service is to extend the period before the next service is needed, and to restore the movement to a condition where it keeps reliable time during that interval. That is the measure of whether the work was done properly — not how quickly the watch was returned.

WHAT SETS US APART

Things You Will Not Find Everywhere

Heirloom Scoping at No Obligation

Vintage and sentimental pieces are discussed in detail before any work plan is agreed. You receive a written scope document outlining what is involved, staged where the work has multiple phases. You are not committed until you are comfortable with the plan.

Service History on File

We maintain a workshop record for each piece we service. When you return for a subsequent service, we can refer to the previous condition notes and timing figures — giving you a longitudinal picture of how the movement is holding up.

Period-Appropriate Component Sourcing

For vintage restorations requiring replacement parts, we source components that are appropriate to the period and specification of the original piece rather than defaulting to modern substitutes where an authentic option exists and is obtainable.

Pre-Visit Questions Welcome

If you have questions about a piece before deciding to bring it in, we are happy to discuss via phone or message. Knowing a little about the watch in advance helps us give a more useful preliminary view and ensures your visit is productive.
